SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 NEWS) – The Utah Highway Safety Office is working with local bars, taverns and restaurants to get the word out that drinking and driving is a crime.
They rang in the new campaign at 10 a.m at Lumpys Downtown.

Starting today people can call in and practice that “one call” from jail without having to go to jail to do it by dialing 1-877-JAIL-FON. When you call you can choose from several options by following the menu prompts. You can rehearse a conversation with your spouse, parents or significant other.

Drinking and driving is not only dangerous and potentially deadly, it can be embarrassing to call someone to bail you out of jail. The organizers are hoping to have a little fun with the campaign while bringing some awareness.

In addition to this unique “one call” program DUI enforcement and education goes on daily across the state but impaired driving remains one of America’s and Utah’s most often committed and deadliest crimes.
